4 BS Excuses Holding Moms Back And How You Can Overcome Them!

In this post I’m going to be tackling your common fitness excuses and how you can overcome them. Yup. Kick those excuses to the curb with these helpful tips. Lose the weight and keep it off!

Can you honestly tell yourself you are exactly where you want to be with your health, wellness, and physical goals? Can you say, with 100% certainty, that you have the body you’ve always envisioned yourself having and have the lifestyle to support it for the foreseeable future?

If so, you have reached a level of savage most of us cannot comprehend, YET!

Now, for the remainder of us, who struggle to achieve where we want to be, do you ever ask yourself why? Why are we unable to finally reach the ultimate goal?

I know why, and here is the hard truth for us all;

BECAUSE WE CONTINUE TO MAKE UP EXCUSES, that we actually convince ourselves to believe…that is the kicker!

Let us explore some common excuses we all throw around, shall we? And then we will attack them and boss up against them.

Overcome your common fitness excuses

Let’s just get this one out of the way:

1. “I have no time” nonsense! HA…

NO, you have the time… what you don’t have are your priorities straight or you’re not very good at time management. We all have the same amount of time in our days. And if you start throwing other excuses into the mix (e.g., kids, work, dogs/cats/pets, etc…), I’ve got that angle covered too.

Let me ask you a question, and please be 110% honest with yourself. How much time do you spend on social media a day? Scrolling? Posting? Texting? Now take that time from one day and multiply it by the 7 in your week. I guarantee you will now find yourself with at least 3 hours in a week to dedicate to yourself and better your physique, which will truly upgrade your entire being from the top-down, head to toe, mind into the matter! Because the caveat to social media, which we all may not realize at the time, is also hindering our personal mental growth on so many levels that we can now use this time as additional bonus points on our improvement phase.

Anyone who has this as an excuse may also be under the misconception that you need hours to workout. And that is absolute malarkey! What you can achieve in 20-30 minutes 3-4x a week can be highly significant compared to absolutely nothing at all!

And as a brief side note, social media is not the only example of a misuse of time, but the most relatable in our world today.

2. ‘I can’t prepare my food’

And then let us compound that with nutrition. Now you’re going to tell me you don’t have time to prepare meals, right? There is not a single store or resource out there that can provide you with the option to purchase already pre-made meals or ingredients.

Not to mention that using a couple hours on a Sunday to have all your meals ready for the week will save you A LOT of time in the grand scheme of things. (And, it will save you tons of money too!)

3. Oh, but finances are tight!

I understand that after the year we all had in 2020, talking about finances can be a bit delicate with so many losing their jobs and/or having to take a paycut. However, you still need to eat.

So, let me ask you a question:

What are you eating? How much are you spending on groceries? Are you even buying groceries? Or are you buying fast food or take outs?

If you are being honest, and your response is fast food or eating out, then stop reading right now and think about this… The average household in the US spends about $3000 a year eating out, and restaurants charge about a 300% markup on the food they serve.

Eating out is expensive, and you will save A LOT of money (and calories) by preparing your own food.

A few tips:

  • Buy seasonal produce as those will normally be more affordable
  • Have a plan for the weekly meals that way you don’t waste food
  • Go to the grocery store with a list, and stick to it

Ok, so I just fed you (no pun intended), basically 3 excuses you’ve probably been telling yourself. But let us keep going, shall we?

We’ve established you don’t have the time nor the resources, but smacked those excuses down.

4. ‘But, I don’t have equipment’

So now you’ll tell me you don’t have equipment at home and of course no time to get to a gym. Did you realize the plethora of options available to you right inside your home? Outside of extremely effective bodyweight exercises, do you have a water bottle? Laundry detergent bottle? WINE bottles? Mop? Broom? Staircase? Or at least one step up somewhere? Chair? You see where I’m going with this right?

And if we got down to the nitty gritty, I guarantee you can find $50 to buy one set of dumbbells and a set of resistance bands (Like these ones HERE) that would make this process a hell of a lot easier to combat, IF you want it bad enough!!

So when we officially break it down, what might be happening is that the will to change is not there… just the desire. It’s easier for you to make up excuses, continue to live your life the way you are, and convince yourself otherwise. You also then spread those lies amongst your friends and family if the conversation ever comes up. But I’m assuming, which I know is the case, that you prefer to surround yourself with people who fit your current mold as opposed to the person you potentially could become.

And now we will briefly touch on this idea, as this is a tough pill to swallow, and I may have triggered you enough for today, so I’ll keep it simple and somewhat sweet.

You are not surrounding yourself with people who support and see the unrealized person within you. You continue to surround yourself with people who may not see your vision or cannot comprehend such a vision or even want. They say your “vibe attracts your tribe.” So this is when you have to truly look within and ask yourself, “Where is your energy? And who and what do you truly want?”

This will be covered in our next installment.

So until then, until you can say with complete sincerity and truth that you are happy, inside and out,  it is time to LEVEL UP, face those demons and buckle up because it’s going to be a bumpy ride of cold hard facts that will need your dedication to overcome!
