Your Life Doesn’t Suck, Your Attitude Towards it Does

This week instead of just a blog, you are getting a double treat… a video blog (vlog) AND a blog! Woohoo! I knew that I needed to create a video that would truly inspire you to stop making yourself the victim of your own destiny.

Instead, it’s time to make yourself the hero of your story with a change of attitude. That’s why this week in my true fashion… we’re gonna show some tough love and talk about how “Your Life Doesn’t Suck, But Your Attitude Towards It Does”.

But, don’t worry… It isn’t all doom and gloom!

I’ll also share a few things that you can do to get out of this rut and fix your mindset …

Over the years, I’ve learned that if you want something bad enough, you will find a way to make it happen!

When you want something bad enough, you’re more willing to step out of your comfort zone,  wake up early, change your habits… and, just become comfortable with being uncomfortable!

That’s just part of growth.

I’ve seen this time and time again in my coaching programs. Women who have succeeded against all odds, even when at times, they thought they wouldn’t be able to hit their goals. Two women’s stories have stood out to me recently and I felt compelled to share with you, to motivate and inspire YOU to see that you too can achieve your goals with that extra push.

Cynthia is one of my babes, she started in the 4 weeks to Fit Challenge and now is in the Mother Strong League. She’s got 4 young children, a full-time job and a house to manage… And, despite her busy schedule, she still MADE the time to achieve her fitness goals!

Not because she has it any easier than me or you, but because she made a commitment to herself. Cynthia knew that excuses wouldn’t give her results! But how did she do it?

She woke up (still does) every morning before her kids so she could do her workouts. Surely, she could have hit the snooze button every morning- which is what most of us want to do at those early hours of the morning- But, she knew that she wouldn’t see the results that she was after, by doing that. Instead, she did what she had to do without missing a beat.

Another one of my babes, Denise, also knows the power of doing what you’ve got to do to achieve your goals. Denice has a young kiddo and a job that requires her to travel… a lot. She knew she was going to have the commitment and be willing to put in the work if she was going to succeed and for Denice, that meant a lot of 4 am wake up calls! When was the last time you got up at 4am ?????! (That’s commitment!)

When my own kids were younger, it was important to find a gym that would allow me to bring in my sleeping baby in their car seat since they were too young for the daycare… The only gym I could find that allowed this, was a 30-minute commute EACH WAY. I was now commuting an hour a day for a workout… But… it was what I had to do to create and become who I wanted to be.

As you can see, we all have obstacles, but the key here is to not let them slow us down!

In the video, I share my theory behind people who prefer to throw themselves a pity party instead of making the changes they need to make for their own success. And let me be the first to tell you, there’s no room for pity parties in your path to success!

So what can you do when your attitude is getting in the way of your goals?

How can you overcome and become?

Remember that a goal without a plan is just a wish… So, HOW can you make sure that your attitude is not getting in your way?

Try these simple steps to define your plan:

  1. What. Determine what your goal is. Really define what change you want to see. The more specific you are about your goals, the better chance you have of succeeding at them.
  2. Why. Now that you know what you are working towards, you need to determine why you want it. In the video, I talk about finding your fire. Find your fire and then write it down on a sticky note and keep it on your mirror so that every morning, you’re reminded of why you started in the first place.
  3. When. What time are you going to set aside to work on this new goal? Are you going to work on this every day? Every week? Decide what part of your day you’re going to dedicate to this new goal and stick with it!

I’m not going to tell you that it’s going to be easy. Because guess what… it’s not going to be easy! But, that’s ok! Challenges make us stronger and more appreciative of the things we achieve.

Now… I want you to imagine where you will be in 6 weeks, 6 months, 6 years if you finally get started.

  • Define your goal.
  • Write it down.
  • Imagine yourself already there.
  • Determine why this goal is important to you.
  • Why have you chosen to focus on this one thing?
  • Lastly, when are you going to work on it?!

Have the plan laid out today and then all that’s left to do is START!

And if your attitude starts to get in the way, I want you to refer back to this video for the inspiration you need to keep going.

I know you can do it, and I also know that deep down you know you can do it too!
