How to Stay Motivated When You Are Tired or Busy

Stay Motivated When You Are Tired or Busy

I’m tired. I’m stressed. The kids are driving me bonkers and my house is a complete mess. Raise your hand if this is you! I can see a sea of invisible hands raised. This is me too!!! This is normal. Take a deep breath. I’ve got you covered. I’m about to unload some of my most useful tips for staying motivated and focused despite being outrageously busy and unbelievably tired.

We all know it’s not easy being a mom and juggling everyone’s schedule + scheduling in “ME time”. I am going to give you a few tips that have worked for me over the years and extend a special invitation to you to kickstart your goals! Stay tuned until the end!

8 ways to stay motivated when you’re tired or busy

Put your workout clothes on

Just do it. No more wasting time or trying to find excuses why you can’t. Exercising releases endorphins which is a free “feel good” drug. If you’re tired or stressed this is exactly what you need! Believe me when I say, you will feel more energized, happier, and stronger once you get done.

Mix it up

Do you get stuck doing the same loop around the neighborhood? Or maybe you always run on the treadmill? Try doing something different than before! Hit the weight room or try out a new cardio machine. Try attending a group fitness class to break up your routine. Working out in a group setting will also help get you motivated. It’s a great way to motivate yourself when you’re feeling tired.

Get connected

Support is key. We as women need a strong support system to fall on when we need a boost or just when we want someone to listen. There is nothing more satisfying than some girl talk during a nice sweat sesh!

Be prepared

My favorite saying is, “Fail to prepare, Prepare to fail”. It’s so true! Grab a notebook or your smartphone and start a list. What will you make for dinner this week? Which days are you committing to the gym? And what are you training at the gym? What must you accomplish this week? And so on…

Journal

Log your food intake (recommend using the MyMacros or MyFitnessPal app), write down your workouts, and most importantly your jot down your feelings. How did you feel before your workout? How did you feel after your workout? Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Music revamp

If you don’t have Spotify then girl, get it!!! Music is so powerful & can really uplift and change your morale! Add 5 new playlists to your library before you hit the gym.

Rethink your diet

Don’t resort to food in times of stress and unhappiness. Instead turn to the gym and crank out a rewarding workout. Be mindful of the things you eat and start making more balanced and wise decisions. Rather than using a vending machine for your midday snack at work pack an apple and peanut butter or a protein shake and almonds.

Unplug & Rest

Yep, you read that right. It’s probably one of the hardest things to do. Turn off all your devices and have a moment of silence before bed to gather your thoughts for the next day and create a mental note of your goals. You should fall asleep knowing that you are strong, capable and worthy of everything you set your mind to.
