[Nathalia Melo]
Hello, hello there, everybody. Welcome to another episode of the Unfiltered Fit Life Podcast. Today, we have an incredible guest—her name is Sarah Blodgett.
I might have butchered that, but she's going to tell me in a little bit. Sarah got my attention on Instagram because, at first, when I saw her stuff, it got me mildly triggered. If you guys know me, you’ll understand why as we start talking to her.
What I found fascinating is how she discusses feminine and masculine energy. Today’s topic is going to be very controversial, especially for women like me. I want everybody to approach this conversation with an open mind because I think there’s a lot to learn—even for myself, as I do this interview.
Sarah is the owner of Everyday Starlet. Welcome to the podcast, Sarah!
[Sarah Blodgett]
Thank you so much for having me! I'm excited to be here.
[Nathalia Melo]
Yeah, I’m excited too. I think I’m going to be a tough interviewer—well, I’m sure you’ve had other tough cookies before—because I find this topic controversial. But that’s why I think it’s so good to speak to you, because you have a very cohesive way of explaining it.
[Sarah Blodgett]
Oh, thank you.
Defining Feminine and Masculine Energy
[Nathalia Melo]
Can you explain to us what feminine and masculine energy is?
[Sarah Blodgett]
Feminine and masculine energy, as I see it, goes much deeper than the superficial interpretations we often hear.
People tend to think of feminine energy as being about femininity—like being very girly or a submissive housewife. Masculinity is often associated with things like the kind of car a man drives, his muscles, or how he acts.
For me, these energies are about something deeper within us. Masculine and feminine energies exist within all of us. We all have both energies, but we each have a core energy where we feel most like ourselves and where we operate best.
Statistically, most women are feminine at their core, and most men are masculine at theirs. This doesn’t mean we don’t have a connection to the opposite energy—it just means our core energy is where we thrive.
Women can access masculine energy, but most will feel more aligned when operating in their feminine. Similarly, men can embody feminine energy, but most feel most themselves when in their masculine.
Unfortunately, society has reduced these energies to stereotypes—like women needing to wear pink and men needing to check off certain boxes. In reality, it’s deeper than that.
Characteristics of Feminine and Masculine Energy
[Nathalia Melo]
That’s helpful. But are there core characteristics you can assign to feminine and masculine energy, understanding that every person is different?
[Sarah Blodgett]
Sure! Masculine and feminine energy have existed in various forms across cultures—like yin and yang, Shakti and Shiva. They represent opposite polarities that work together.
The masculine is the structure, the giver, the protector, and the provider. The feminine is about flow, creativity, receptivity, and opening.
A great metaphor is that the masculine is the cup—the structure—and the feminine is the liquid—flowing within the structure.
If we look at basic human biology, the masculine is the giver, the penetrator, and the protector, while the feminine is the receiver and creator. It’s an energetic balance that reflects even in the most basic functions of humanity, like reproduction.
Behavioral Traits of Masculine and Feminine Energy
[Nathalia Melo]
Are there specific behaviors that show someone is operating in their feminine or masculine energy?
[Sarah Blodgett]
Yes. Masculine energy is about structure, discipline, list-making, and achieving. Feminine energy, on the other hand, is intuitive, flowing, and creative.
For example, someone in their feminine might move intuitively, without a strict plan, going with the flow of life. Masculine energy is more structured and goal-oriented.
Most women feel more comfortable in their feminine flow, and most men feel more comfortable in the structured discipline of the masculine.
Nathalia’s Personal Experience
[Nathalia Melo]
Interesting! Personally, I have a strong personality—very direct, with characteristics that would likely align with masculine energy.
[Sarah Blodgett]
That’s very common among women today.
[Nathalia Melo]
Here’s what’s interesting: when I met my husband, who’s very masculine, I was drawn to how much he exuded masculinity. Even though I have a lot of masculine traits, his masculine energy was something I found incredibly attractive.
Shifting Dynamics in Modern Relationships
[Nathalia Melo]
We live in a time where many women are breadwinners or earn as much as their husbands. How do you maintain polarity in a household when traditional roles shift?
[Sarah Blodgett]
It’s crucial to redefine the idea of “provider.” While financial contribution is important, it’s not the only way to provide value in a relationship.
Many women today are in their masculine energy at work, and when they come home, they want to relax and soften into their feminine. But that requires a man who can step into his masculine—providing safety, leadership, and purpose.
Practical Tips for Women Balancing Masculine and Feminine Energy
[Nathalia Melo]
What practical tips do you have for career-driven women who want to embrace their feminine energy at home?
[Sarah Blodgett]
One of the best things is to create a ritual that transitions you out of your masculine “work mode” into your feminine energy.
For example:
- Take a shower or bath to connect with your body.
- Put on a song that resonates with your mood and move intuitively to it.
The goal is to shift from your mind (masculine) into your body (feminine).
Embracing Feminine Energy for Yourself
[Nathalia Melo]
What are the benefits of embracing feminine energy, beyond relationships?
[Sarah Blodgett]
Connecting to your feminine energy is about coming back to who you truly are. It’s not about impressing anyone or attracting a partner—it’s for yourself.
When you connect to your feminine energy:
- Your relationship with yourself improves.
- Your relationships with others—romantic, familial, and professional—improve.
- You feel more grounded, authentic, and aligned.
[Nathalia Melo]
Sarah, thank you so much for your time and insights. You’ve really opened my mind about a lot of things!
