Mary didn't want to die, but she "couldn't afford" my program. Why is it that our society is willing to spend substantially more being reactive than proactive when it comes to our health? We'll spend more money on Taylor Swift tickets than taking care of ourselves - WTF! The hard truth is there's a much bigger cost associated with not taking action. Do you know how much a fucking funeral is?!
In this episode, I'm getting real AF about the bullshit excuses you make for not being able to afford to invest in your health. I'll share about the call I had with Mary and why your lack of perspective is what's REALLY going to kill you (or at least cost you way more in the long run). If you're allowing money to stop you from making real change, brace yourself for this wake-up call.
Topics Covered:
- A special announcement to share with you!
- The problem with your perspective on investing in your health
- Why I refuse to discount my services and accommodate your lack of priority

Introduction and Host Welcome
Hello, hello there, fam. Welcome to another episode of the Unfiltered Fit Life Podcast, and I am your host, Natalia Malou. I'm super excited to be here with another solo episode after having quite a few episodes with our incredible guests, but I have a lot of thoughts about something that has happened recently, so I was like, you know what, I'm going to do a solo episode so I can articulate on this better.

Launch of Embody Supplements:
I have incredible news! After years in the fitness industry and some challenging experiences with supplement companies, I decided to start my own line of supplements—Embody Supplements. We’ve launched with a pre-workout called Energy Explosion, featuring nootropics for mental clarity and concentration. I first shared it with the Powerhouse Academy community, and now I’m excited to officially announce it to the world.

The Instagram Live Incident
Now to change the tone a little bit. As I mentioned, this episode stems from an Instagram Live I did about an emotional call I had with someone, whom I’ll call Mary. This call really stuck with me, and I want to share the experience.
Mary’s Story
Mary reached out because she was at a breaking point. Within five minutes of our first call, she said, “I need your help. I don’t want to die.” She shared her family history of health-related deaths and her own struggles, including feelings of embarrassment and isolation. She was eating out frequently and was unable to set a healthy example for her child, who also struggled with significant health issues.
The Cost of Inaction
When it came time to discuss the investment in her health through my program, Mary said it was too expensive. This broke my heart because we had just talked about the potential consequences of not taking action. People often underestimate the cost of inaction—whether it’s health complications, quality of life, or even the financial burden of medical care.
Society’s Spending Priorities
I compared Mary’s hesitation to the widespread willingness to spend on luxuries like concert tickets or dining out. For example, tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour cost upwards of $1,200 for nosebleed seats. Meanwhile, people think investing in their health is "too expensive." The same goes for daily expenses like fast food or coffee, which add up over time.
Why Financial Investment Matters
Over the years, I’ve learned that financial investment increases commitment. Free programs or heavily discounted services rarely motivate people to take action. The truth is, when people pay, they pay attention.
The Bigger Picture: Health and Legacy
This isn’t just about fitness or having a six-pack—it’s about quality of life, independence as you age, and setting a positive example for your children. Kids notice our habits, and as parents, we need to lead by example.
Mary’s story, especially her child’s struggles, was a stark reminder of the ripple effects of our choices. It’s not just about the immediate cost; it’s about the long-term consequences of inaction.
Proactive vs. Reactive Health Care
Taking care of your health will cost you—either now, proactively, or later, reactively. The cost of managing diseases like diabetes or recovering from major health events far outweighs the investment in preventative care.
A Call to Action
If this message resonates with you, don’t wait. Start today. It doesn’t matter if I’m the one to help you—just do something to take care of yourself and invest in your future. Don’t let fear or excuses hold you back from living a full, healthy life.
Thank you so much for listening to today’s episode. If this message spoke to you, please share it with a friend. Sharing helps us reach more people and make a bigger impact. Remember, fitness is about more than just muscles—it’s about quality of life and independence.
Adios, and I’ll see you next week!
